All the rumours about the upcoming Galaxy S23

Samsung Galaxy S23 Series: The launch, the specs, here’s all the rumours we know

In the first couple months of each year, Samsung introduces its newest Galaxy Smartphones, and 2023 is no different. On February 1st, Samsung's annual Unpacked event is expected to present the first look for the Galaxy S23 lineup, the Galaxy S23 Plus, and the highest-spec Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The event's lead-up has created plenty of buzz since top Samsung executives hinted at a new Ultra smartphone. The inclusion of this new device promises to be a significant upgrade to the existing models, and rumours have speculated that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have outstanding camera capabilities featuring a 200MP main camera and super-bright display. Also, the entire series is predicted to have a more uniform look as the S23 and S23+ will adopt the design of the Ultra edition, so we will be saying goodbye to the metal surrounding the camera lens, much like the Galaxy S22 ultra.

In addition, Samsung will debut the new Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which will increase the drop protection on the devices, a step up from its predecessor, which was only scratch-resistant. This durable and sustainable material will be able to withstand more slips and drops and perhaps even make it through the 4-to-5-year support life cycle. Still, it is made of glass, so your best bet on keeping it pristine is purchasing a S23 compatible case.

As for the new specs, the S23 Ultra is rumoured to include a 1TB storage option, 12GB of RAM, and a large 6.8-inch screen, while the S23+ and base S23 get 6.6-inch and 6.1-inch displays, respectively, and 8GB of RAM. Perhaps the most exciting feature is the highly anticipated 200MP camera with ISCOCELL HP2, which uses pixel binning to produce 50MP and 12.5MP photos, while also supporting 4K HDR video recording at 60fps and 8K video at 30fps. Essentially, we may be about to see the best smartphone camera ever.

Traditionally, Samsung has powered its S line of phones with the latest Qualcomm silicon, and the chipmaker announced its newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor last November, so it is almost certain that the chip will power Samsung's new line of Galaxy's.

The previously leaked promotional images showcased the S23 in four colours: Phantom Black, Cotton Flower, Botanic Green, and Misty Lilac. These pastel shades are likely to be the official colourways of the phones. While more shades may be included in the following months, it is to start with these.

As for the price, it is unchanged from the S22 in the US, with the Galaxy S23 expect
